Usability Principles

How a Web site is structured is essential to its effectiveness. Solid hierarchical design is a must and usability must be tested before going live. At Palmetto Web Productions, we take into close consideration the following principles for every Web site we create:

1. Self-evidence

Web sites must be easy to use. Studies have shown that viewers will quickly leave a site that is too complicated or that requires extensive onscreen explanation. A consistent, organized design increases visitor efficiency and user presence and loyalty.

2. Speed

Establishing clear and concise navigation is an absolute must in effective Web design. Ideally, a viewer should be able to reach his or her target within three mouse clicks. Ensuring that visitors don't take any wrong turns is the best way to increase viewer presence and loyalty.

3. Compatibility

As more Web viewers search the internet in mobile devices and browsers, it is essential that Web pages look the same across a number of viewer interfaces. Solid web design principles are a must in today's Web environment.
